Bungalows Kupu Kupu
The bungalows, built in 2002 owners the store that the NGO has rented in Jalan Raya Ubud, but had always been empty and they were always behind me so that I cogiera and I take care of them.
I always said the same thing, I'm not a business woman and had enough with the issue of NGO work, and each time he passed near the bungalows (there is a beautiful one hour walk from rice paddies you used to almost every Sunday) I remember that always gave me a tremendous rage because they see the empty place in my particular is a site that I think she has a beautiful setting and super nice, and I was sad that people do not enjoy the site she was sure that many people might like this site and make you happy for a few days.
This year the contract was over the store and had to renew the contract for another 5 years and over Pak Nyoman as I always try to offer as the bungalows and I always said no but now that we also have another center new NGO in the town of Bangli, but as usual I was angry that the site was closed and people had no chance to enjoy it, so when we were in the office of the NGO by the contract started talking shop the bungalow again.
I told them clearly that I have no idea to handle business that I am a woman interested in business or with too ambitions or desire to make money, but the site I liked a lot, but I had no idea if it could be good if he could get people to be in the bungalows had no idea of \u200b\u200bthe degree of occupation that could have site, or mad that I had committed to take the place of money and x 10 or 20 years, so I told them that if they wanted we could do was to work together, I was in charge of seeking tourists, promote the site and put operation and reached an agreement that 60% of the profits would be for the NGOs and 40% of the profits would be for them.
I was a little scared at first because I did not know if it would be able to find people who would be there, but working this way had nothing to lose and we could try!!
So in July we started to renovate, clean and fix the site had been abandoned since 2002, the youth of the NGOs were several days to mow the lawn and all the NGO workers were fed into the commissioning opening up and bungalows, which after a beautiful ceremony, opened in August 2010 with four girls in Madrid, we were lucky because the month of August there is so much tourism in Bali so it was relatively easy to find people who would be in the bungalows.
the beginning my dream was also able to employ people with disabilities but has not yet been possible, but is something that we do not rule in the future.
The bungalows are called Kupu Kupu (of course!! Kupu Kupu means butterfly) and the NGO Kupu Kupu Kupu Kupu Store and Gallery.
the end the clear objective of the bungalows is to raise funds for NGOs in these years of crisis, the crisis we are all suffering and is not easy to find money to keep the two centers we have with all programs, activities and projects in schools is carried out every day.
is clear that NGOs can not rely solely on funding from government grants and aid that are only specific, ie they are for specific projects and is not safe every year, and also a council never give us aid for the maintenance of a center or a school, school building itself, but for salaries of teachers, pay for electricity, water, food, gas, petrol, phone ... ... and all expenses involve the maintenance of the two centers as it does not, so it is clear that we must find ways for our own self-financing and that is how we clear that the issue of the bungalow could and should pursue.
I have to make clear that the other side to me personally I love the site so much easier for me to also try to "sell" something that I like and top with the added attraction that has a social objective or solidarity, I think a very good combination.
The bungalows are located in Jalan Kajeng in Ubud, which is a charming street and that only 5 or 10 minutes from the palace or the center of Ubud, is the road that begins in Jalan Raya in Lotus Restaurant corner there is now a Starbruck (what a shame !!!!).
The street is full of written stone tiles on the ground for a lot of people who donated the tiles to Rp 50,000 each and also benefited from so many places to advertise for life.
is a lively street lined with shops, small local restaurants and sites that sell and rent you all, this street is a street that leads to another site rather than the rice.
When you reach the end of the street you go up a hill and you're in full rice !!!!!!!!! After climbing the hill, reach up and see the view of paddy fields is something I have to feel and you can not describe.
Here begins a journey of about an hour least among rice paddies back again in parallel on the other side of the river in Ubud and forth in the guidelines.
In one of the trees is the sign of Kupu Kupu Bungalows on the left by taking a small narrow path between rice paddies.
In total there are three bungalows, two Lumbung style, traditional style all wood with a completely open space underneath, where you can sit quietly for breakfast and be completely relaxed or lying down and the bedroom above the roof straw.
The bathroom is below and also have a small kitchen but for the moment but that is not used for luggage storage.
who are entirely of wood and straw to me particularly I love, that contact with traditional and natural materials is something I think is priceless and I think that is charming.
The Lumbung style bungalows cost Rp 200,000 (about 16 euros) with breakfast included and then have another normal simple brick bungalow that costs Rp 150,000 (12 euros) with breakfast.
To access the bungalows have to take a path that goes between rice fields with a creek on one side, access is not easy, not comfortable, that is for people who go looking for something centrally located next to store or restaurant is not.
This site is for people who like nature, rice paddies, coconut trees, water, mountains (at certain times of day you can see Mount Agung right and left all three mountains Batukaru) , sunset, sunrise, birds, peasants, colorful flowers, the sounds of water, birds, frogs, crickets, the smell of flowers, children playing with kites, sip a coconut ... ... ... ... ...
is a simple site but to enjoy the natural things and all the senses. Pegas
